A study evaluating the needs for the NM 264 corridor between Tse Bonito (milepost 0.0) and Yah Tah Hey (milepost 16.0) was completed in 2023 and the resulting recommended alternatives are going into design and construction under four separate phased projects. Design for Phase 1 between Winchester Road (milepost 9.3) and N. Chapel Hill Road (milepost 14.7) was completed and is currently in construction. The other three phases are nearing final design and will be let as construction funds become available. The scope includes various roadway safety, condition, and operational improvements, including asphalt reconstruction, drainage improvements, lighting improvements, pedestrian/multi-modal improvements, and access improvements at driveways and side road connections.
