A Phase 1-A/B Study is underway to support the 2-lane extension of Paseo del Volcan from Rainbow Blvd to Southern Blvd in Sandoval County. Paseo del Volcan is a new roadway that must consider the challenges of setting a horizontal centerline and vertical alignment that achieves an efficient cross section for grades, drainage, and access in anticipation of future widening. The team will evaluate three or more alignment options that follow either the right-of-way centerline or the northbound or southbound lanes of a future four or six-lane highway. These three options, plus others if deemed viable, will be examined as alternatives for the Phase 1-A/B study.
